A balance between intuitive knowing and logical thinking can be reached
through the use of the Hermetic Principles:
The Principle of Vibration
Nothing rests, nothing moves, everything vibrates. The differences between
matter, energy, and spirit are different vibrations. Matter is a denser,
more solid vibration than energy. Incenses are burned to raise the vibration
of a ritual or temple. The realm of vibrational healing -- using intent,
energy, and the vibrations of natural substance such as flower essence
and crystals -- is fast becoming a part of alternative medicine.
The Principle of Polarity
Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites
(like the yin-yang).
It is useful, if you desire to find harmony between the extremes, to reprogram
a negative thought with a positive one. Each polarity contains the essence
of the opposite.
The Principle of Correspondence
As above, so below, as below, so above. The whole contains the part and
the part contains the whole. The atom and the Solar System are almost
maps of each other. When you want to emphasize a particular energy in
your life, you utilize items and ideas that correspond with that energy.
Colors, planets, tools, days of the week - these are all examples of
building a correspondence system. Some people build it on four elements,
some on the seven notes, some on herbalism - and each system works. By
listening to the language of correspondence , you can uncover many secrets.
The Principle of Mentalism
Everything in the Universe is a creation of the ALL. The ALL is a nongender,
nonpantheistic way of referring to the divine whether you call it God,
the Source, Tao, Prime Vibration, First Cause, or the Great Spirit. Water
appears to be a wave, because it rises up, we give the name wave; but
its the same water rising up. Thats discrimination - seeing the same
essence behind all the names and forms.
The Principle of Rhythm
Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides. The ocean tides
have a cycle that concedes with the movements of the Moon. Learning to
recognize the tides of natural energy is the most important part... rhythms
to be aware of are the cycles within yourself.
Everything and everyone has their own turn of seasons, or cycles. It is
far easier to work within your own cycles than to change a cycle that is
outside of you.
The Principle of Gender
Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles.,
energies, traits and characteristics are found in everything. Part of
a healthy, well-balance between the two, making us who we are. Shapes,
contours and texture and color give us a sense of gender. The moon is
feminine, the sun is masculine.
The Principle of Cause and Effect
Every cause has its effect; every effect has its cause. This axiom reminds
us that nothing happens by sheer chance. Many things that seem like coincidences
have a cause somewhere. The cause may not be physical in nature, but
mental or magickal, but nonetheless a cause. Everything in the Universe
expands and the energy of our thoughts, intentions, and actions are amplified
in the universe, and when they return, they return with more strength.
We can never take back anything we say. If you are ever in a heated argument,
you know this. Once it is out of your mouth, it is into the universe
for all to hear and react to , as in the Principle of Cause and Effect.
Neutralization of harmful words is done through Affirmations - a way
to actively deprogram and reprogram ourselves through neutralization.
This Principle is the most important one when working on changing daily
habits.
The Principle of Triplicity
The Universe seem to resinate with number three - for middle, psychic,
and divine selves. |
